In 2006-2010, the sales revenue of China's construction machinery industry maintained a rapid growth in general. By the end of 2008, export had accounted for 30% of the sales revenue of the whole industry. Therefore, the construction machinery industry greatly relies on the export.

Influenced by international crisis, the export of China's construction machinery industry showed a substantial decline in 2009. The export value reached USD 7.71 billion, decreasing by 42.60% over 2008. In January–November, 2010, the export value of China's construction machinery reached USD 9.31 billion, increasing by 35.40% over 2009. The export began to resume growth.

The sub-industries of China's construction machinery mainly include forklift trucks, loaders, excavators, concrete machinery, cranes, compaction machinery and bulldozers. It is predicted that respective industries will continue to maintain the stable and rapid growth in the next few years under the condition of China's intensifying the construction of water conservation, high speed railway, road and other infrastructure as well as other fixed assets investment, but the development speed will vary.

It is predicted that in 2015, the sales revenue of China's construction machinery industry will reach CNY 900 billion-1,000 billion.
