MedTech President Nominated for 2011 Technology Woman of the Year
Heather Erickson, president of MedTech, was nominated for the 2011 Technology Woman of the Year award which is being presented on Thursday, April 28 by Digital Rochester.
This award, being presented Thursday, April 28 by the Digital Rochester Women in Technology Pillar, recognizes the achievements of women in high technology fields. Erickson is one of 10 nominees for the 2011 award.
In her role as president of MedTech, Erickson is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership, and sustaining the membership’s shared vision of forming an organized and nationally recognized Bio/Med region where companies and professionals seek to do business. MedTech is a non-profit association of bioscience and medical technology companies, suppliers, service providers and research universities from across Upstate New York that are helping each other to thrive and build a booming industry.
Erickson’s nomination for 2011 Technology Woman of the Year speaks to her great contributions to advancing the Upstate New York Bio/Med industry. In addition to her position with MedTech, she currently serves as co-chair of the State Medical Technology Alliance (SMTA), an organization of major bioscience and medical technology associations across the U.S. She is also a board member for the Central New York Biotechnology Research Center and the American Heart Association’

Erickson also acts as an advisor for undergraduate students at Syracuse University as chair of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Advisory Committee. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Erickson received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Yale University. She resides in Syracuse, NY.
