Cotton Module #54 Where Are You? New tracking system tracks cotton modules in the field

April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Jonesboro, Arkansas: According to Chris Childers, President, EMG, “Cotton Gins have long had a problem with keeping track of modules which are parked in the field until they can be picked up and delivered to the Gin.  With this system, Gins will be able to track the module at all times, saving time from cotton picking to delivery to the Gin”

EMG’s cotton module tracking system utilizes a hand held, integrated scanner with GPS tracking capabilities, documenting the module location, date, time and bar code data.  The operator will scan the module tag in the field when the module is dropped, and the information will be maintained in a database which can be accessed for any information required such as module by location, farm, date, etc.  

At time of pickup, the truck drivers will be directed via the GPS hand held to a specific module. A confirmation scan is then performed and the module is picked up.  The module is again scanned when it is set in the gin yard and the GPS coordinates will be captured, locating the exact location in the Gin Yard.  

When the module is to be ginned, the operator will be directed to and asked to confirm via scanner that the correct module is being processed.  All data is maintained in a real-time database giving a complete history of all modules.A system to generate Module tags via a computer database is also provided so real time printed module tags with the farmer’s information can be distributed at the beginning of the gin season.
