April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Andy Goralski of Oconomowoc, Wis., an internationally recognized sports artist, has been selected as a featured artist for the 2011 Channel 10  Great TV Auction, which airs April 29 through May 7 on Channel 10.  Goralski painted “Storm Chaser,” a composite piece of #52 Clay Matthews, the two-time Pro Bowl linebacker for the Green Bay Packers.

The Channel 10 auction is a nine-day, on-air fund-raising event hosted annually by MPTV Friends to support Milwaukee Public Television. Each year, individuals, businesses and local artists donate more than 18,000 items. Viewers across southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois bid for items by telephone. Online bids can be placed in advance of the auction by visiting greattvauction.com and clicking on the preview & bid button.  The auction will also be streamed live at mptv.org.

The auction’s 2011 goal is to raise more than $1 million for Milwaukee Public Television. By reaching its goal, the auction will fund approximately 10 minutes of every hour of programming for shows such as “NOVA,” “Sesame Street” and “Great Performances.”

In addition to Andy Goralski, the work of Lynn Casper of Waukesha, Jean Crane of Grafton, Maribeth Devine of West Allis, Terrill Knaack of Beaver Dam and George Kovach of Abilene, Texas will be showcased.

Original pieces from four of the artists, along with a limited number of prints and giclées, will be available for bid during the auction.

Andy Goralski of Oconomowoc is the auction’s Sports Collection Artist. Due to overwhelming interest and demand for his work, Goralski is returning to the auction for a sixth straight year, making this his eighth selection as a featured artist.

Goralski is an internationally recognized artist who has painted many of the greatest athletes of this era, including Walter Payton, John Elway, Robin Yount and Dan Jansen. Goralski prefers to work in pastels, which sets him apart from other artists who shy away from this medium.

“Pastels can be hard to control, and it can be difficult to maintain detail with them, but I’m convinced that the natural texture of a person’s face cannot be achieved with other media,” Goralski says.

For the Channel 10 Auction, Goralski has created “Storm Chaser,” a composite piece of #52 Clay Matthews, the two-time Pro Bowl linebacker for the Green Bay Packers. The painting features an explosive Matthews with his arms outspread, celebrating a game-changing sack. In the left corner, Matthews is seen without his helmet, an intense and focused look on his face.

“In the primary image, I wanted the painting to capture Clay’s reckless abandon and intense game play,” says Goralski. “In the secondary image, his physical features are prominent. You can clearly see his chiseled face and long hair, which are part of his signature look.”

A hand-enhanced gallery panel and 100 fine art prints of “Storm Chaser” will be available for bid. Each piece is signed by Goralski and Matthews. The gallery panel is valued at $1,500 and the prints are valued at $500 each.

To view Goralski’s work, visit www.andrewgoralski.com. Goralski’s website now includes an art registry. Channel 10 Auction collectors are encouraged to register their current and past prints on the registry. Those who register their Clay Matthews’ print will receive a mini concept sketch print of “Storm Chaser.”

Goralski notes the registry ensures collectors will have record of their art for insurance purposes and provides an opportunity to indicate a preference for future special numbered prints, as well as identify favorite players and teams.
