IPSWICH, MA – April 26, 2011 – Didi Davis Food, a small specialty food company, is proud to announce the opening of their shop for regular hours. A shop that was once available to customers only by appointment or via the web, is now opening its doors Monday through Friday, 10am-2pm.
Many local Ipswich residents have often wondered what activity was happening within the brick walls of this small workshop on Mitchell Road, a space that was once occupied by the local Stone Soup café. The street is anything but pedestrian – it is trafficked mostly by business vehicles. Yet this hidden gem contains a plethora of the world’s most exotic sea salts and peppercorns, harvested by artisans from around the globe.
Inside you will find rare and unique seasonings in a myriad of colors, textures and flavors. Most famous is their Danish Viking Smoked Salt, made by one man in the world using ancient Viking methods he discovered while researching folklore. You will also see rare Long Pepper shaped like cat tails, or those name “Comet’s Tail” for a unique spike found at the end of the pepper. The flavors are anything but ordinary. Chef Didi Davis, an Ipswich resident herself, creates unique pairings with her own line of handcrafted salt and sugar blends. Stop by and taste her hand-chopped Vanilla Salt or Fennel Thyme Salt. Or pick up some Mojito Sugar to rim a summer cocktail.
Didi Davis Food products have been an inspiration to many, and make wonderful gifts. “We are so thankful for our local customers who have been so loyal to us over the years,” recalls Ms. Davis. “Their support and business has helped us grow to where we are today.” Business is thriving, mostly through their sister company Salt Traders and website, www.salttraders.com, but the company is looking to grow their local following by being more available for business. As they continue to grow, they hope to expand their shop hours.
