The Cosmetic Chemicals Guide book released by local Airdrie author: Tamara Laschinsky
Local author, Tamara Laschinsky, has released 'The Cosmetic Chemicals Guide' to help consumers better understand toxic chemicals and how to avoid them. This guide overviews common chemicals and shows consumers how to find safer options.
Her business, Natural e GREEN, is based out of Airdrie, Alberta and focuses on offering only products that are free of toxic and harmful chemicals. Products range from personal care products to herbal supplements and currently, the store offers over 500 different items.
Tamara wrote the book to help her customers understand the different chemicals that exist in many products found on store shelves. Reading labels is not easy and many individuals and parents are looking for safer options. She realized reading the label is one thing and understanding the labels is another, since many chemicals go under alternate names.
Consumers will learn about the various chemicals and their alternate names as well as gain a better understanding of the health hazards these chemicals pose. They will also see how to find safer options and properly research products to ensure they are safe for people and the environment.
Says Tamara, "I opened my store to help consumers shop for the products they needed, without them having to worry about chemicals in those products. Many manufacturers "green wash" their product, which means they make them look safe and natural and yet, there are still many toxic chemicals in the product they sell. I wrote this book based on the many questions my customers were asking me, mainly: "how they can tell is something is safe or not?' "
With chemicals such as formaldehyde and parabens gaining international media exposure and promoting a rise in consumer concern, 'The Cosmetic Chemicals Guide" release comes at a great time for health-conscious consumers.
Tamara lives with her family in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada. A healthy future for her children and a lower impact on the environment is important to her and she hopes to help educate her children so they can make safer choices when they grow up. She has provided a great deal of free information on her store website for other parents and consumers, so they too can learn how to make safer choices.
