April 23, 2011 - PRLog -- In the realm of refurbished and used computers there have been some major changes which many aren’t aware of. If you are finding yourself looking for a new computer be sure to do your homework on this subject as you could save yourself a fortune. The main change that most all major manufacturers have made is regarding their warranties. As of recently all major manufacturers are now offering refurbished and reconditioned computers with the same as warranty that all their brand new systems receive.

It is because of this that local retailers don’t want you to know that you can get the same computer for half the price in many cases. You could also get twice the computer for the same money as a new with the protection of a great warranty. To boot many of these companies are offering an extra 2 years of coverage for an additional fee. So it begs the question why spend more for the same computers when you get the same level of protection regardless?

The only downside to the equation is that if you’re looking for a specialty computer generally it may be a lot tougher to run down. Since refurbished outlets usually have a limited of stock based on what was returned you sometimes have to be patient for what you’re looking for especially if it’s a highly sought after unit. But if you’re willing to wait some incredible deals can be had. To ice it off many companies like Dell are even throwing in free shipping which is really nice.

If you are seriously considering looking into this option it is best to shop online verses your local retailer. While local retailers do have used computers for sale they generally don’t have the same equipment for testing. This results in nowhere near the quality that the major manufacturers are currently producing. Moreover you typically will pay a bit more with local retailers on average. Even if you can find a comparable deal the warranty is usually nowhere near what the big boys are offering. Local guys typically will give you 30 days at best.  So even if you have traditionally preferred to look somebody in the eye prior to buying a computer you should consider giving online shopping a try. Remember if you aren’t happen with the computer you can simply return it.

Sure you may prefer to have the new computer experience which is fine but just bear in mind that with refurbished you can save a boat load. Some of course can afford new and prefer it which is fine but in the case where you’re looking to save a little money certified refurbished PC’s and Macs can be the option you’ve been looking for.
