Follow on Google News | SoccerMadison kicks off registration driveThe fall soccer season may be several months away, but South Dakota’s newest soccer association is hoping a soccer ball giveaway and free player and coach clinics will encourage area youth to register long before the July 8 deadline.
By: Jeff Boldt SoccerMadison will begin registering children at two events the last week in April, the second featuring clinics by South Dakota State University women’s soccer coach Lang Wedemeyer and several Jacks players. And thanks to a generous donation from TirePros, the first 90 children to register will receive a free soccer ball. Registration will begin on April 26 at The Community Center in Madison, where children ages 4-18 as of July 31 can register for the fall season from 6-8 p.m. On April 30, registration will take place from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at Baughman-Belatti Park in Madison. Coach and player clinics will take place simultaneously in two sessions, with U6/U8 clinics from 1-2 p.m and U10-and-up clinics from 2-3 p.m. Registration is not required to participate in the clinics, which are free to the public. “We’re proud that we can assist with the inaugural season of soccer in Madison and can help spread this great game across South Dakota,” said Wedemeyer. “I’m sure this will be the beginning of many great seasons that will see kids having the time of their lives on a soccer field.” A registration form can be downloaded at www.SoccerMadison.org. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required for registration.
