April 21, 2011 - PRLog -- If you looked up the definition of”Designer” on Wikipedia, it would say “A designer is a person who designs. More formally, a designer is an agent that "specifies the structural properties of a design object". In practice, anyone who creates tangible or intangible objects, such as consumer products, processes, laws, games and graphics, is referred to as a designer.” But if you look up “Design Specialist”, no results show. Why? Is it not applicable or is it that it would mean too many people having issues with letting the cat out of the bag?  So that brings us to the kicker. What is the difference between a designer and a design specialist?

In layman’s terms, a designer is someone who designs. Just like, a writer is a person who writes. This debate, if held on a public forum, would probably stir up a hornet’s nest because a lot of people may feel it questions their credibility but that’s not the point. The point here is to put the information up for grabs and not on a private pedestal. A design specialist is quite simply put, someone who possesses a strong understanding of the permutations and combinations that surround great design and the possibilities that exist even before the design is ever executed, or even planned. They would be those who possess the capability to analyze the possibilities and reflect them appropriately to ensure the best possible results. Those who have worked on the field of design long enough to understand the various aspects as well as their relation to other related fields and vice versa. These are people who know what impact designing can have and can tell those they execute work for, exactly what that individual or business needs to make their design work for them.

Can just anyone afford a specialist? It depends. Each individual has their own unique skill set and so, charge differently for their services. But there are those who will offer quality services at prices that you can afford.  Hence, before you hire someone to work on you business website or stationery, you might want to ask them a few questions about why their services might make a difference to you. Do some reading and point your questions in the right direction so you don’t get convinced for the wrong reasons. There will be a price tag to getting things done right. So you will be treading a fine line to actually get the difference you need. So the next time you pick someone to work on your business’ online profile, you might want to do some checking as to whether they really will make a difference to the business you worked so hard to set up. To get you proper design combined with appropriately done optimization to make your business stand out. Just remember this equation. There are 8 billion people on the planet and a healthy third, run businesses. Many own more than one business so you have your work cut out for you there. Find a firm that has addressed issues that may pertain to you online. That way, you reduce your margin of having to get it done all over again.  If you do find a firm that can deliver though, you’re on a roll.
