April 20, 2011 - PRLog -- MARIETTA, GA  -- On Thursday, April 14, 2011, the General Services Administration (GSA) held a playground ribbon cutting ceremony for it’s new play area at the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center Child Enrichment Center. The Center is managed by Children’s Choice Learning Centers.

The play equipment on the new playground was custom-designed, manufactured and installed by Safeplay Systems. EcoPlay Playgrounds from Safeplay Systems are made from post-consumer, recycled HDPE (milk jugs) – and this particular playground project diverted approximately 53,000 milk jugs from being permanently placed into local landfill.

In addition to manufacturing a ‘green’ product, Safeplay Systems incorporates ‘green’ into all of its business processes – earning the company a 2009 EVERGREEN AWARD from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Safeplay Systems is the first playground manufacturer to win this prestigious award.

To commemorate the playground’s official opening and recognize GSA for their commitment to the environment, Robert D. Gredys, President of Safeplay Systems, presented a Certificate of Sustainability to Michelle Price, GSA’s project manager for this project.

In addition to highlighting the use of 53,000 recycled milk jugs, the certificate also serves as a declaration of Safeplay Systems’ buy-back program:

Should your EcoPlay Playground manufactured by Safeplay Systems, fulfill its purpose and ever be dismantled, Safeplay Systems welcomes back your playground for RE-recycling.

RE-recycling will complete the environmental cycle, providing for a truly sustainable playground. Your dismantled playground will be re-processed to create new playgrounds for children to enjoy.

When presenting the Certificate of Sustainability, Gredys commented, “It’s reassuring when the U.S. Government completes projects like this that benefit small businesses, provide a happy and healthy outdoor environment for our children, and show respect for our planet by specifying ‘green’ products.”
