Follow on Google News | Cameroon: A Well-Educated Youth Cameroonian Government’s AmbitionIn Cameroon, the Cameroonian Government wants to upgrade the education system to prepare tomorrow’s leaders. First measures taken by the Government in Cameroon should be the implementation of new teaching programs and the recruitment of teachers.
By: Cameroon-report.com 6,490 new teachers have already signed the papers after the recruitment processes held and financed by the Debt Reduction and Development. Cameroonian Government also knows that the infrastructure needs a little attention, therefore, have already built and equipped around 1000 classrooms in the past two years and is also looking forward to build new schools and distribute essential material in the underprivileged areas, if necessary. These measures present on the Cameroonian Government’s list are coming in order to reduce the ratio of students to teachers and for improving the performance in schools. The Ministry of Public Health and AES SONEL already signed a contract in order to implement the well known programs of work and study in the secondary education level. The Cameroonian Government believes that this measure, alongside with beefing up of the school map, would help growing with 5% the number of students in technical areas. In this sense the Government in Yaoundé is studying a possibility of investing in technical facilities rehabilitation and equipping them with laboratories and workshops. In terms of higher education level, the Cameroonian Government believes that should continue with the investments started in 2009, when the University of Maroua was opened. Beside the University of Maroua, the Cameroonian Government had also opened new faculties in cities like Foumban, Nkongsamba and Yabassi, but is looking forward to continue the CFAF 9 billion investments made in the past two years by giving another CFAF 3 billion for the most valuable Cameroonian students. For this reason, addressing the youth during National Youth Day February 11, 2010, the Head of State said, no doubt to remind them that they now had to do their part in shaping their future: “However, right now, you must take advantage as best you can of the exceptional efforts made by the nation to improve our schools and universities. I have upheld my end of the moral agreement I made with you, and important means have been mobilized to improve the offer and quality of training.” The Government in Cameroon wants the best for its citizens, especially the youth. In order to have a bright future, Cameroonian Government is looking forward to strengthen its education system by setting up a large project which aims to develop both, elementary and higher education levels.
