Glass Doctor Shops Busy with Hail Storm Auto Glass Damage in North and South Carolina

April 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Glass Doctor of Columbia/Rock Hill and sister franchise Glass Doctor of Charlotte are operating in emergency mode after the hail storm last Saturday. The shops extended their operating hours, and their glass service technicians are running at full capacity.

Most glass repairs are to vehicles damaged by large hail stones. Both shops have reported shattered back window glass, chipped and cracked windshields, and vehicle body damage. If the windshield chips are caught early, many can be repaired before they turn into cracks. Windshields with cracks in the drivers’ line of vision should be replaced immediately for safety.

“I’ve never seen a hail storm like that,” Dave Mackey of Glass Doctor of Columbia/Rock Hill said. “Requests for service over the weekend were five times higher than a normal weekend.”

Glass Doctor of Columbia/Rock Hill sales are already up 71 percent this week compared to the week before the storm.

“By having a smoothly running system in place all along, we’ve been able to handle most customer needs quickly, and a large part of that is working closely with the insurance companies to make sure the claim process is painless for the customer,” Mackey said.

Glass Doctor of Charlotte has seen a 580 percent increase in daily sales in Gaston County since the storm and a 387 percent increase in daily jobs.

“We’ve been doing what we have to do to help people out,” Ed Sieber of Glass Doctor of Charlotte said. “Customers are desperate to get their vehicles fixed. We want to assure people we are getting insurance claims filed and glass shipped as quick as possible under the circumstances.”
