April 19, 2011 - PRLog -- (MELBOURNE, FL) A Florida organic food delivery service and Living Social are teaming up to help solve the hunger problem in the Space Coast region of Florida, Lucinda Clark President and CEO of Fresh Box Organics said today.

Fresh Box Organics, a Melbourne, Florida-based company, is donating all of its gross proceeds from its deal with Living Social to the Daily Bread, a soup kitchen in Melbourne, Florida, that feeds homeless and hungry families.

Clark said that she is hoping people will utilize Living Social for the one day promotional discount not only to get a box of fresh organic vegetables and fruits delivered to their door, but to also help those in need.

“One of my top priorities for Fresh Box Organics is to give back to the community,” Clark said. “Helping those in need – especially the hungry is a passion of mine. I know from my childhood what the pangs of hunger feel like, and I have made it my mission in life to help prevent others, especially children, from feeling the same. This is why I’m teaming with Living Social to provide a significant one day discount to our organic food service. All of our proceeds will go to feeding the hungry.”

Living Social teams up with businesses to provide with deeply discounted deals to consumers at local restaurants, bars, spas, theaters, and more.

Fresh Box Organics, which started its delivery service last month, gives families a healthier, fresher and cost-effective alternative to store bought produce.

They deliver a fresh variety of fruit, vegetable or mixed fruit/veggie boxes straight to your doorstep or office. The contents change weekly based on the freshest arrivals from organic farms.

Those who order through http://freshboxorganics.com can choose different sizes of boxes that contain varying amounts and types of produce. Boxes range from the smallest box that may include items like apples, mangoes, oranges, strawberries, cucumbers, gold peppers, romaine lettuce, fennel, tangelos and zucchini, to the large box that adds items like beets, carrots, celery, chard, avocado and pears. The service offers competitive pricing that many times beats local grocery stores.

The recipient of Fresh Box Organics’ donation, the Daily Bread, operates a soup kitchen that is a lifeline for over 4,200 men, women and children in the Melbourne area each year. Serving between 200 and 250 people daily, the kitchen is open seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing a hot mid-day meal plus hygienic services, including shower, laundry and mail service, to anyone in need.
