By: Christina Steffy About the book: "The Food, the Bad, and the Ugly" operates on several different platters. I mean levels. It's a history book. It's a book about popular culture (both ancient and modern). It's a book about the human condition It's a book about music, movies, television, trivia, literature, sports, sex, and relationships. It's a book about politics. And, yes...it's a book about food. But mostly...it's completely outrageous and hilarious. And it also represents a new milestone in clever word play. By its very nature, any book about food is bound to be largely tongue in cheek. But this one has teeth. Yet "The Food, the Bad, and the Ugly" isn't merely a book about food. There is not a single recipe to be found. Instead, the book addresses a variety of issues within a food-related context -- even though they may have very little directly to do with food. Historical figures, singers, actors, writers, politicians, athletes, or just regular people... they are all subjected to the "food treatment". About the author: Frank Cassano was born and raised in Toronto, where he still lives happily with his lovely no wife and his wonderful no kids. Frank was a freelance writer, a journalist, and a copywriter (and was unemployed a helluva lot) before ultimately abandoning the industry to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a snail rancher. After several years of feeling rather, well...sluggish, Frank was compelled to leave the snail ranching racket to crawl back into writing. This occurred merely a few short years ago -- when he realized that he wasn't consuming food, so much as he had become consumed by it. He hasn't missed a beet since. "The Food, the Bad, and the Ugly" marks Frank's first foray into book writing. As preparation, he decided to go out and actually read a couple.
