CF Riders Blazing a Trail for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness

4 Days and 4 States into Nationwide Ride for Life and CF Riders are rolling strong.

April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Brian Johnson and the CF Riders began the Nationwide Ride for Life on Friday, April 15..  Brian left with a heavy heart; just two days before the ride began, he lost a childhood friend to complications from Cystic Fibrosis.  It is in his friend’s memory and the hope for others suffering from CF that Brian rides.

As the motorcycle group left Birmingham, Alabama, Mother Nature was not so kind; she assaulted the group with heavy rain, winds, cold, and even threw a tornado into the mix.  However, the group and a few die-hard friends made it safely to Jackson, Tennessee, in spite of the not-so-great riding conditions.

On Saturday, April 16th, the Scott and Angie Bumpus and the rest of folks at Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Jackson held a fundraiser.  Mother Nature still was showing off a bit and although the rain had stopped, the temperatures were on the cold side of chilly.  Even with those much colder than normal temperatures, 89 motorcycles showed up for the ride to Chickasaw State Park in Henderson!  A Blessing of the Bikes by the Christian Motorcyclists Association was held before the group continued on to Memphis, Tennessee.

Scott Bumpus, along with son Brandon, rode into Memphis with Brian and will continue riding with the CF Riders for a few more days.  Also joining the ride from Jackson to Memphis was the Mid-South Chapter of the Dixie Divas.

On Sunday, April 17th, Brian was guest speaker at the Freedom Biker Church in Horn Lake, Mississippi, where he shared his story of living with Cystic Fibrosis and his vision for this Nationwide Ride for Life.  After services, the group continued on to Little Rock, Arkansas and will depart from Little Rock today, Monday, April 18th on their way to Jackson, Mississippi.

The next few stops on the tour, in chronological order, will be Jackson, New Orleans, Houston (with an event at Tejas Motorsports on Thursday, April 21st), Dallas, Oklahoma City, and Amarillo.   The entire schedule for the 10 weeks can be found in this article.

All motorcyclists are encouraged to join in this Nationwide Ride for Life along the way and to participate in the Five Rider Challenge – bikers bring along five of riding buddies and encourage them to each bring five buddies.  For a suggested donation of $10.00 per rider, this challenge can really make a difference in the lives of those touched by Cystic Fibrosis.
