Sarova Stanley is the first hotel to serve beer in Kenya

April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Kenya's first locally brewed beer was served at Sarova Stanley's long bar in 1922. Ewart Grogan who walked from Cape to Cairo to prove his love for a woman slaked his considerable thirst here. So too did Ernest Hemingway, Denys Finch Hatton and Edward Prince of Wales. At Sarova Stanley, the stars came out at night: Stewart Granger, Ava Gardner, Clark Gable, they all came to Sarova Stanley.

Today, East African Breweries Ltd -EABL together with Sarova Stanley relive the memories of the launch with an elaborate horse drawn carriage carrying crates of Tusker to Sarova Stanley. The entourage was driven along Kimathi Street all the way to the Sarova Stanley’s Porte cochere and was received by the Sarova Stanley hotel’s General Manager Mr. David Gachuru and EABL representatives; also among them were hotel guests and the general public who witnessed the spectacular event
