There are millions of blogs out there, but a midwestern woman has carved out an interesting niche. Joy Neighbors blog, A Grave Interest, deals with cemeteries, history and genealogy. Last Friday she wrote a blog about folk music legend Burl Ives.

April 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Ives died sixteen years ago, on April 14, 1995 and was known as one of America's most beloved folk song singers, as well as an award-winning actor and voice-over artist.  Neighbors describes Ives life from his singing minstrel days in the 30’s, to his acting career in the 40’s and 50’s, to his role as Sam the Snowman in Rankin/Bass’ holiday classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”  Neighbors spices up the post with photos relating to Ives, and ends with the epitaph on his monument in Mound Cemetery.  Well thought out and written, it’s a mini capsule of his life for blog readers to enjoy.

Neighbors began her blogging career in February of this year.  The Graveyard Rabbit Association, the premier Internet cemetery group, interviewed her the same month.

As a former broadcast journalist, Neighbors loves digging for the facts and doing research.  Combining her interest in cemeteries, history and genealogy, she has come up with a blog that is growing in readership every day.  Since her blog began almost three months ago, she has had over 1,500 readers from 20 countries, including the U.S., India, Singapore, Russia, China, Australia and Iran.  Neighbors has scheduled out her blog topics a year in advance, although she can quickly change and rearrange when something comes up.  Past topics have included Symbols of Love in the Cemetery (February 14,) Cemetery Superstitions (March 15,) and Graveyard Humor (April 1.)  According to Neighbors, she tries to tie interesting subjects with the dates her entries will post, making them relevant and intriguing to readers. Upcoming posts include Strange Cemetery Trees that includes an interview with International Arborist, Larry Caplan; Weddings in the Cemetery, and Who Were the Woodsmen of the World, to name a few. Her blog and former posts may be found at http://agraveinterest.blogspot.com/
She also has a Facebook site for the blog at
