Stresscon Completes Erection of Precast Products for EchoStar Cheyenne Data Center

April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Denver, Colo. (April 15, 2011) – Stresscon Corporation, a precast manufacturer and supplier of architectural and structural precast/prestressed products, with plants located in Colorado Springs and the northern Colorado town of Dacono, recently completed erection of 448 precast pieces for the new EchoStar Cheyenne Data Center.  Despite a very aggressive project schedule and severe winter conditions, Stresscon completed the job five days ahead of the predicted end date.  EchoStar Broadcasting Corporation, the owner of the Data Center, and General Contractor, Hensel Phelps, worked closely with Stresscon to achieve the accelerated schedule.

The building structure for this multimillion dollar project, which is located adjacent to EchoStar’s existing satellite uplink and broadcast facility, was designed for tornado loads and resistance.  This design included CIP topping on the roof for added dead load to resist higher than normal uplift and lateral loads, and heavily prestressed components to most effectively resist the unusually high lateral loads.

This structure is a total precast shell, including a composite roof with double-tees, beams, and structural columns.  The perimeter of the data center is composed of acid-etched and exposed aggregate accent prestressed architectural walls, along with dramatic architectural relieve built into panels.  In addition to the data center, there is a contiguous office area that includes exterior architectural spandrels, sills, and columns.
