DocMiami International Film Festival Launches 2011 Festival with Offciial Poster & Award Unveiling

April 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The DocMiami International Film Festival included over 100 documentary films from all over the world during a full Memorial Day weekend of cultural activities during the 2010 edition at the world famous Doral Golf Resort and Spa. Since then, interest has sparked an impressive 80 million mentions on the internet while DocMiami’s 2011 call for entries is still open and accepting documentary films from all over the world.

On March 24, 2011 DocMiami International Film Festival held its annual poster/award unveiling event at the Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Doral located at 8700 NW 18th Terrace where special invited guests enjoyed a dinner and cocktail celebration. Chairperson of the Doral Cultural Affairs Advisory Board, Carmen Johnson and City of Doral Vice-Mayor Michael DiPietro had the honor of unveling the 2011 Official DocMiami poster created by Producer/Director/Writer and artist Lance Miccio of Brooklyn, New York. DocMiami Executive Director, Monica Rosales accompanied by Argentinean sculptor and Doral resident, Laura Tobi Carcano both revealed Tobi's original creation to serve as the DocMiami hero award.

DocMiami Internatrional Film Festiavl will take place September 22-25th at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. The Awards Gala will take palce the evening of September 25th with returning host Gloria Ordaz and will also include performances by Tito Puente, Jr, spoken word poet Rich Ferguson and “The Godfather of Mexican Rhythm and Blues” Javier Batiz. Also, this year, Multi-GRAMMY® Award winner and world Humanitarian, Carlos Santana will accept the DocMiami "El Rey" Tito Puente Contribution to the Arts Award via pre-recording. A very special Guest will be present to accept the award on Mr. Carlos Santana's behalf at the 2011 DocMiami Awards Gala. Last year’s DocMiami, “El Rey” Tito Puente Contribution to the Arts Award recipient was the beautiful Latin Grammy Winner, Olga Guillot.

Distinguished guests present at the unveiling included: City of Doral Vice Mayor Michael DiPietro, Doral Councilman, Pete Cabrera, Chairperson of the Doral Cultural Affairs Advisory Board, Carmen Johnsons as well as DocMiami Board Member, Tito Puente, Jr., Carlos Zambrano of Zambrano Entertainment as well as other welcomed guests.
