Wood Green Animal Shelters Big Challenge
Wood green Animal Shelter staff team attempt big challange in aid of new surgery equipment
The challenge takes place over six days at the beginning of June in Scotland where five members of staff will climb up through Glen Nevis and take the steep, pathless and tiring route up 6000ft covering 12.1 miles along the Carn Dearg Meadhonach (CDM) and Carn Mor Dearg (CMD) arête finally scrambling up to the peak of Ben Nevis. The journey time is between 10 and 14 hours. Such are the risks associated with this route that we have to take a professional mountain guide to lead the way. This is not the visitor route to the summit!
This being the warm up leads those left standing to walk from Fort William along the Great Glen Way to Inverness (approximately three days), still not done, we then jump on our mountain bikes and take the mountain trail from Inverness back to Fort William for a hot bath, rub down with tiger balm, the application of bandages and blister plasters, followed by a hot curry and journey back to Wood Green.
Now given the big build up you are possibly wondering where this leads………
Well, if I have caught you in a very good mood, then I am hoping that you might go on to www.justgiving.com/
Every donation as I have said is very, very much appreciated and will take us nearer our target. We are aiming for £12,000 and currently have £6,643.41 pledged. Every single penny donated goes to Wood Green. The challenge team have individually raised the cost of the challenge separately so that every penny you see on the just giving page is going toward the purchase of the equipment.
If you cannot afford to donate, this Sunday we have two stalls at the Wood Green a car boot and if you have something of value (no matter how small) that we could sell then that too would be very much appreciated. We will store all donated items in the stores area for the next few days.
A donation or a small saleable item would boost our challenge income and help us towards our £12,000 target.
If anyone is wondering why we would want to go for such a big challenge, then in the words of Mark Twain ‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do, than by the things you did do’. So what we intend to say in the words of Edif Piaf ‘ Non, je ne regretted rien’.
