23 NSCS Members Awarded Goldwater Scholarship

Twenty-three NSCS members from across the nation have won scholarships from the Goldwater Foundation, which honors undergraduate students who excel in math, the sciences and engineering.
 
April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Twenty-three NSCS members from across the nation have won scholarships from the Goldwater Foundation, which honors undergraduate students who excel in math, the sciences and engineering.

The foundation awarded 275 scholarships for the 2011–2012 academic year to sophomores and juniors. The one- and two-year scholarships cover the cost of tuition, room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 annually.

Goldwater Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,095 mathematics, science, and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide.

About the Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by the United States Congress in 1986 in honor of former United States Senator and 1964 presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, a Republican from Arizona. Its goal is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields.
