Hunt Valley retailer Greetings & Readings spotlights local and regional artists

April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Putting the spotlight on local and regional artists and artisans, family-owned, independent retailer Greetings & Readings of Hunt Valley is introducing its year-round, First Floor Arts series.

Greetings & Readings will showcase local artists and artisans in its first floor lobby, starting with one weekend a month and building from there. The artists will be on hand to introduce shoppers to their creations. Shoppers will fall in love with new pieces of art and purchase them directly from the artists.

These artists and artisans use a variety of mediums including oil paint, acrylic, watercolor and photography, as well as mixed media, mosaics, wood, fine gems and metals. They have displayed and sold their work at shows and in galleries along the East Coast from Vermont to Florida.

Baltimore artist Bitten Norman is the liaison between Greetings & Readings and the talent to be on display as part of First Floor Arts. “Some of these artists are formally trained and some are self-taught. Some are new and some have been at it forever. Despite their differences, every artist is talented and puts his or her heart, soul and vivid imagination into every piece,” she said. Norman’s work can be seen at the Towson ARTS Collective’s Art in the Park series and the Art & Wine Festival in Sykesville.
