April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- GP Commissioning - Tuesday, 20 September 2011, Central London

2011 and 2012 are critical years for the development of clinically-led commissioning by GP Consortia. With the Government’s Health and Social Care Bill increasing GPs’ power to commission services on behalf of their patients, Capita’s 2nd National GP Commissioning Conference addresses the legal and financial implications of the new healthcare system, practicalities to consider when putting it into practice, as well as its effect on local partnerships and patients.

Our agenda examines how the roles of local authorities and commissioning consortia are being expanded, with the abolition of Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) and Primary Care Trusts (PCTs). As the Government devolves power to professionals, patients and carers, the day answers the crucial question of how to leverage influence amongst the new GP stakeholder consortia.

GPs, community providers, local authorities, Health and Wellbeing Boards and the third sector will come together to break down the challenges faced when cutting administration costs, identifying efficiencies and determining service provision.

Opening with expert guidance, the day will proceed to present the lessons learnt by leading practitioners and showcase examples of best practice on:

• Engaging with decision makers to ensure your clinical provision is recognised by consortia
• Putting policy into practice whilst overcoming financial obstacles and tight timeframes
• The role and statutory requirements of Health and Wellbeing Boards
• Deciding which services to keep and when decommissioning is necessary
Join decision makers and peers to ensure you are capitalising on the opportunity to deliver higher quality and patient centred services in your local area.
