Reigning World Champions In Philadelphia Monster Jam June 4

April 7, 2011 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 7, 2011 –Newly crowned 2011 World Champion Monster Jam drivers Tom Meents with Maximum Destruction® and Jim Koehler with Avenger® will lead a roaring field of 12 high-horsepower, big-wheeled Monster Trucks in racing and freestyle competition at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® on Saturday, June 4 at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles in South Philadelphia.

Tickets are on sale, ranging from $15 to $60. The spectacular stadium event will begin with a “Party in the Pits,” an up-close and personal experience between fans, drivers and their massive monster trucks on the dirt race course (43,000 tons of dirt covering the Eagles’ football field) in the Linc from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the Pit Party is included with the purchase of a ticket. Monster Jam racing will begin at 7 p.m.

Meents, a nine-time world champion, and Koehler, a two-time champion, recently won the racing and freestyle competitions, respectively, at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam 2011 World Championships in Las Vegas. In addition to Maximum Destruction and Avenger, the Monster Jam fleet currently scheduled to appear in Philadelphia include Grave Digger®, AAP Grinder, Lucas Oil Crusader, Air Force Afterburner®, Captain’s Curse®, El Toro Loco®, Monster Mutt®, Brutus®, Backdraft, and Grave Digger – The Legend®

Each of the 12 custom-designed monster trucks competing at Lincoln Financial Field weighs more than five tons, sits atop 66-inch-tall tires, and stands 12-ft. high and 12-ft. wide. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds up to 100 MPH. Monster trucks can “fly” up to 125 ft. (a distance greater than 14 cars side-by-side) and up to 35 ft. in the air.
