April 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Boston, MA - Liposuction, liposculpture, body contouring – whatever it’s called, liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. With the right equipment in the hands of a skilled physician, the body can be sculpted more precisely and with less downtime than could have been possible just a few years ago.

Enter TICKLE LIPO, a device that received its name based on comments from doctors who reported on the slight tickling sensation described by some patients during their procedures. The system takes a different approach to removing fat than the laser and ultrasound enhanced devices that have gained wide recognition. Instead of relying upon heat to break up the fat cells before removal, Tickle Lipo uses “nutational” or rotating movement of the cannula to break up fat cells.

The movement of the cannula distracts and tricks the brain into perceiving a slight tickling sensation for many patients.

In his Boston practice, plastic surgeon Dr. Fouad Samaha now performs “Tickle Lipo” to help his patients rid specific areas of their bodies of stubborn fat deposits.

“When I first heard of this procedure, I thought it was going to be another technique that is all hype and no substance, but I am impressed by the effectiveness, the efficiency, and the gentle nature of Tickle Lipo,” says Dr. Samaha. “Our patients have had excellent results, with a smooth contour and an easier recovery compared with other methods. I also find that our Tickle Lipo procedures are quicker, which has helped us lower the cost of liposuction to our patients.”

Tickle Lipo can remove localized fat deposits more quickly than some other forms of liposuction, with minimal patient discomfort, decreased downtime and no risk for thermal burns, which can occur with laser assisted liposuction.

Like other types of liposuction, Tickle Lipo utilizes small tubes called cannulas to remove the fatty tissue beneath the skin. However, in Tickle Lipo these cannulas, activated by air pressure, vibrate and rotate beneath your skin's surface to more efficiently remove fat and cause less trauma to surrounding tissues. Given the advanced nature of this technique, fat removed may also be ideally used for fat grafting treatments.

Tickle Lipo can be performed on many areas of the body to remove fat deposits and even works well when utilized near the skin's surface.
