April 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Home-Tech Donates to the American Heart Association as its ‘Charity of the Month’
(Fort Myers, FL., March 21, 2011) — Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2010, approximately 785,000 Americans had a new coronary attack, and about 470,000 had a recurrent attack.  Every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event.  About every minute one will die from such an event.
The American Heart Association is a national organization with local chapters dedicated to raising funds for research and creating awareness of the causes and prevention of heart disease. The mission of the organization is simply to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Home-Tech actively supports the work of the American Heart Association through sponsorships of the organization’s events, including, the “Go Red” Luncheon, the Heart Ball and other silent auctions. The Heart Association has also been selected as Home-Tech’s ‘Charity of the Month’ three times in the last year, and is March’s ‘Charity of the Month’, receiving a cash donation of $650.
"The American Heart Association is extremely appreciative of Home Tech and their vision for giving back to the community,” stated Jennifer Campbell, Senior Social Events Director for the American Heart Association. “Home Tech fully supports the mission of the American Heart Association through volunteering and their generous philanthropic giving. Together we make it our mission to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans."
Donations for the ‘Charity of the Month’ program are made in customers’ names to thank them for their business, instead of sending them corporate gifts.  Since Home-Tech launched the ‘Charity of the Month’ program in July 2009, $16,600 has been given by Home-Tech and it’s customers to local charities located from Sarasota to Naples.  That is in addition to the company’s ongoing charitable giving and sponsorships of local charity events.  “Thanks to our customers and the sales of our air conditioning units, many people can benefit from this donation,” says Home-Tech CFO, Sonya Sawyer.
