Endowment Fund to Award Two Scholarships At 4th Annual Awards Ceremony

The Phi Sigma Pi, Alpha Tau Chapter Endowment Fund, Inc. is awarding two academic scholarships to local Washington, DC students at their 4th Annual Awards Ceremony on April 21, 2011 held on the campus of Howard University.
 
April 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Washington, DC, April 6, 2011 – The Phi Sigma Pi, Alpha Tau Chapter Endowment Fund, Inc. is pleased to award scholarships to two deserving metro-area high school seniors – Elliot Randolph, Woodrow Wilson Senior High School and Joy Green, Friendship Collegiate Academy. Both students are active in a number of organizations and community service projects.  Through their hard work and community involvement, it is clear that these students embody the ideals of scholarship, leadership and fellowship, upon which Phi Sigma Pi was founded.  The Endowment Fund is also pleased to announce that Howard University professor Dr. Debyii L. Sababu Thomas will receive the “Excellence in Leadership Award” and deliver the keynote address at this year's ceremony.

This year’s banquet will be held on Thursday April 21, 2011 in the School of Business Auditorium on the campus of Howard University.  A reception will be held in the in the Faculty Lounge at the School of Business immediately following the Awards Ceremony which will be begin at 7:30 pm.

The Endowment Fund was established to provide scholarships to local high school students in the Washington, DC metro area.  Over the past three years the Awards Banquet has been held at Howard University and has been attended by over 300 students, alumni, faculty and supporters. Seven $500 scholarships were given to college bound students who exemplify scholarship, leadership and fellowship.

The awards ceremony and reception are free to the public and the Endowment Fund looks forward to recognizing these students for their continued academic success.

ABOUT THE PHI SIGMA PI ALPHA TAU ENDOWMENT FUND, INC.
Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Tau Chapter has established the Endowment Fund to provide scholarships for local high school students.  The financial assistance the students receive from the Endowment Fund may be applied to their college education upon enrollment. The Endowment Fund strives to promote the pursuit of higher education for these students by alleviating financial barriers. Over the past three years, this event has become one of the Endowment Fund's signature events, culminating the activities of the fiscal year and showcasing the purpose of the Endowment Fund.
