Voices of Pride Patriotic-Themed Dinner-Show at China Beach Bistro Receives Raving Reviews
Special ‘Diva’ Appearances and ‘Surprise’ Entertainment

(West Palm Beach, FL)  Voices of Pride (VOP), the Gay Men’s Chorus of the Palm Beaches hosted their annual spring fundraiser at China Beach Bistro, in Northwood Village on Sunday evening April 3rd.  The dinner show offered hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a spectacular evening of entertainment.  Highlights of the 50-minute show which was presented in ‘parts’ included special appearances by the ‘Divas’ of Voices of Pride, and some solo and group numbers.   The show was appropriately named “Don’t Ask…But we will tell” and featured a patriotic salute to the men and women of our Armed Forces. “In traditional VOP style, our guests will be in for some surprises,” said Robert Hamon, Board Member and Chairperson for this event.

Voices of Pride is a 501(c)(3) organization and began in 2003 with the dream of a few men who were singing in a chorus quite a distance from the Palm Beaches.  Inspired by the numerous gay and lesbian choruses across the country, and bolstered by the support and encouragement of Compass and MCC of the Palm Beaches, the men founded the first local gay chorus for the people of Palm Beach County.  The dream was to craft a musical organization with the highest musical and performance standards, encouraging diversity and respect for all people through music.  The chorus today consists of about 25 singers who donate their time, talent, and money to be a part of this organization.

“ after hearing the VOP sing at a fundraiser, I knew immediately that I wanted to get involved with this chorus.  That night, I offered to hold a fundraiser in my home for this talented group.  After seeing their spring show at the Kravis, I knew I had made the right decision!”
   - Carole Crysler, VOP Producers Circle Sponsor

Sponsors of the event included:
China Beach Bistro             Altima International
Dine Magazine            Stubbs & Wootton
PGA Resort and SPA            Caffe Milano
Bice Ristorante

Money raised at the event benefited future performances and community outreach.  VOP donates its time and talent to many organizations and causes within the community. VOP is combining its talents with the MCC Sanctuary Choir to perform a 2 day concert on April 30 and May 1 to benefit the MCC Food Pantry located at the MCC of the Palm Beaches church located on Northlake Blvd.  The food pantry has seen explosive growth in demand as the economy continues to struggle within our community.
