Sacramento, CA (April 4th, 2011)-- Mbong Amata, the star of an upcoming Hollywood meets Nollywood political suspense movie “Black Gold-The Struggle of the Niger Delta,” is Ladybrille Magazine’s Woman of the Month for its April 2011 Film Edition.

Black Gold, based on the true story of the infamous Niger Delta region in Nigeria, is about environmental justice and the fight over the control of the scarce oil resources that the world runs on. “We are excited to celebrate Mbong Amata as Ladybrille Magazine’s Woman of the Month,” says Uduak Oduok Founder & Editor-in-Chief of the publication. “As the pioneer digital magazine bringing Africa’s fashion and entertainment industries to the Western masses; our focus is to tell and motivate our readers with timeless and inspiring stories of men and women doing extra ordinary things,” continued Oduok. “Mbong Amata’s perseverance and willingness to trailblaze a new path for others to follow in African cinema, which has attracted for her death threats and an escape out of Nigeria for fear of her safety, is a timeless and inspiring story we are humbled and privilege to share.”

“I feel very much on top of the world right now to be the April 2011 Woman of the Month for Ladybrille magazine; and to think me worthy enough of such an uncommon honor is indeed extremely inspiring,” exclaimed Mbong Amata. “Being a part of the brand "Ladybrille" has really gone a long way in boosting a lot of positive energy in me, in more ways than one, especially a brand that has had a lot of reputable and iconic women connected to it. It has further given me a colossal leap in my field as an actress from Nigeria and Nollywood that is being celebrated.”
