Jane Goodall Hopes Young People Can Fight For Endangered Animals

April 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Jane Goodall, the famous British ethologist, known especially for her work with chimpanzees, has called on the young people of today to fight for all the endangered species that are struggling for survival.

When it comes to endangered animals the situation couldn’t be much worse and sadly it is deteriorating all the time. Sites such as http://www.animaladoptions.org.uk are attempting to raise awareness of endangered animals but unfortunately more needs to be done.

For example, you only have to look at a recent study by Mark Seabrook-Davison from Massey University, which discovered that 3,000 species are in danger of extinction in New Zealand alone, and this is a country where conservation laws are very strong. This does show the extent of the problem and unfortunately charities are overcome by it. In New Zealand they are only currently able to monitor and actively help 168 of these endangered species, leaving nearly 3,000 species to fend for themselves.

Jane Goodall is hoping that the youth of today can build on much of the work that has been done over the past few decades. She has set up a campaign called 'On the Edge: Hope for Animals and Their World' and hopes that the world’s young people can "become the next chapter of hope for a local endangered species."

Some people have claimed that we’re fighting a losing battle when it comes to saving wild animals but you only have to look at the work that charities have done with Giant Pandas, as seen below, to see that real progress can be made remarkably quickly:
