Olympic Gold Medalist, Natasha Hastings, Sets Leading Time and Relay Record at Pepsi Florida Relays

In only her second outdoor track meet of the season, Natasha Hastings has already set one of the world-leading times in the Women’s 200-meter race winning at 22.77.

April 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Gainseville, FL-- At the Pepsi Florida Relays, Olympic gold medalist track and field sprinter Natasha Hastings, set one of the world-leading times in the Women's 200-meter race at 22.77. Hastings also set a Florida Relays meet record as a member of the Speed Divas relay team by winning first place with a time of 42.75. The Pepsi Florida Relays were held at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida where Hastings currently holds the stadium record in the 400-meter race at 50.23 set in 2007 while a student at the University of South Carolina

On Friday April 1st, Hastings won first place in the Women’s open 200-meter invite and set one of the world-leading times in the 200-meter at 22.77. On Saturday April 2nd, Hastings had first place wins in the 4x100-meter relay race, the 4x200-meter relay race and the 4x400-meter relay race with Marshevet Myers, Bianca Knight and Lauryn Williams known as the Speed Divas.

·         Women’s 200-meter dash invite- 1st place (Set one of the world-leading times at 22.77).

·         Women’s 4x100-meter relay race-1st place with the Speed Divas 42.75 (New Florida Relays record).

·         Women’s 4x200-meter relay-1st place with the Speed Diva 1:31.02.

·         Women’s 4x400-meter relay-1st place with the Speed Divas 3:39.67.

Natasha Monique Hastings is an Olympic Gold Medalist track and field sprinter and certified fitness trainer from New York and currently resides in Columbia, South Carolina.  Natasha began her track career at a very early age and made a first place win at the USATF Junior Olympics in the 400m in the Youth Girls division.

Moving on to her college career at the University of South Carolina, Natasha started to become known as the “400M Diva” as 2007 was considered her breakout year.  Natasha went home to New York for the New Balance Collegiate Invitational and won the 400m in 51.70, a personal record at the time, and anchored the 4×400m to a win with the fastest collegiate time for the year.  Also in 2007, she won the SEC Championships by running a 51.63. Natasha went on to the NCAA Championship and her time in the 400m at 50.15 was the second fastest time ever on the collegiate level and she had successfully competed undefeated all season becoming the Indoor and Outdoor 400M champion. In 2008, Natasha won an Olympic Gold Medal in the Women’s 4×400M relay team by running a 49.87 split. Most recently, she won first place in the 400M dash at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships running a world-leading time of 50.83. She is currently training for the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Championship in Korea and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England.
