April 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Epoxiconazole, introduced to the market by BASF in 1993, can be found in many products and product mixtures targeting a large number of pathogens in various crops like cereals (mainly wheat, barley, rye and triticale), soybeans, banana, rice, coffee, turnips, and red as well as sugar beets, and it is a fungicide active ingredient from the class of azoles developed to protect crops. In particular, the substance inhibits the metabolism of fungi cells infesting useful plants, and thereby prevents the growth of the mycelia (fungal cells).

In Jan. 2011, Syngenta had formulates Isopyrazam with epoxiconazole for wheat rather than releasing the Isopyrazam because the two were closely matched in their activity on the disease spectrum, which helped protect against resistance development. It is believed that the combination would give as good a curative activity as was possible.

In Feb. 2011, Brazil announced that the Agency of Public Health Inspection of Brazil has draw up a draft on insecticide to modify Resolution RE nº165, 29 August 2003, by approving epoxiconazole ( with 0,03 mg/kg, 30 days) in the culture of sugar cane.
