April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- On April 2, 2011 in McAuley Hall the Bay View community will be gathering to sort food from their recent state-wide food drive, “Feed a Family, Feed the Spirit.”  An assembly of students, alumnae, parents, faculty and staff will come together as a whole community to put the finishing touches on the drive. Said Lia DelSesto, “ This is a special time of year for Bay View,  as we reflect on Lent and put our thoughts to action. This very successful drive is a continuing tribute to the Mercy values that live in the ranks of this institution's alumnae, student and parent communities.” The project, inspired by the Bay View Academy Alumnae Advisory Council, collected items throughout the state during the month of March, using Bay View alumnae business as satellite collection sites. Big Fitness (Kristen O’Donnell Soucie ‘85), Botticelli’s (Janet Tanury ‘92), The Greenery (Bridget Tierney ‘85), Phil’s Marketplace (Dayna Marziali Mendolia ‘90), Rinnovo Salon (Giana Giarrusso ‘09), Warr & Warr, PC (Rebecca Morency Warr ‘91) and Weichert Realtors, Cress and Company (Rebecca Stevens  Moniz ‘79) were the local business that collected food for the drive. The food collected will be sorted, boxed and delivered to the East Bay Food Pantry. Alumnae Counsel member, Alison Croke ‘90  echoed DelSesto’s sentiments, “It is the power of our perpetual sisterhood that not only inspires us, it motivates us to always live the Mercy mission. This food drive provides that opportunity.”
