Taking community dollars to keep people poor.

March 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Brooklyn Center people are targeted for Economic Strangulation

Amid budget cuts, there is a unique opportunity in the Brookdale Mall for community economic development that proportionately includes the poor. However, a corporation is working fast to use community dollars to benefit the corporation while keeping people in  poverty.

(Brooklyn Center, MN) - Donald (DJ) Jackson, President of Poor No More, Inc., a business dedicated to visual communications continues to rally community support for the development of Brookdale Mall. This site is ideal for Jacksons community initiative not only to create jobs, but to create business development, employment training, youth job readiness, ex-felons job re-entry and an International community.

Jackson visualizes Minnesotans residents and business owners working together to stopping of their community being strangulated financially leaving this community and others with poor financial futures.

Mr. Jackson has not been silent about Brookdale mall site in Brooklyn Center MN. Expressing his feeling for this project being a community initiative to create sustainability for residents and looking at the financially resources going to the wrong hands in this community and the State of Minnesota.

The current proposed development plan of Gatlin Development looks good, but will not address immediate needs of the people, or do they even care about the people?

Brookdale mall with a little TLC. Not a deconstruction plan that would cost millions which was proposed by Gatlin Development. We know that the State governments budget cuts continue to underscore the need for increased efforts that would support an economic development plan proposed by this developer who is seeking TIF (Tax Increment Financing) for the redevelopment of their project.

In addition to the large cuts, the State’s budget, high gas prices home foreclosures, calls for numerous fees on work licenses, park admissions, schools closing and other activities that will impact the working class citizen.

The Gatlin plan is not the plan that the City of Brooklyn Center can afford. TIF funds allocated to the Poor No More community development project would open doors for business, remodel the structure and get people back to work NOW! In 2011. Jackson will be presenting his plan to the City of Brooklyn Center Monday April 14, 2011 at 7PM at their open to the public Council meeting.

Again I ask for your support and your involvement in the Poor No More project.  Say NO THANK YOU to Gatlin Development that this property belongs to the community to design whats best for them. People need long term solutions now!

People need livable income not just get by money. The dedicated working people are always being kick to the curb, losing their homes, not able to pay for college and losing everything they worked hard for. NO MORE.

Poor No More Community Project is where community residents, business owners, the State government, entertainers and movie producers can all get along under one roof for a solid financial sustainable future.

Contact the Mayor of Brooklyn Center at (763) 503-5729 mayorwillson@ci.brooklyn-center.mn.us, and let them know that TIF funds should go towards the Poor No More community project and not Gatlin Development Company.
