►Chicago Gateway Green Celebrates 25th Year With New "TREE-K" Run/Walk on April 28

March 31, 2011 - PRLog -- CHICAGO—It's all about cultivating a greener urban landscape at the inaugural Chicago Gateway Green "Tree-K" Run/Walk on Thursday, April 28, in Grant Park.

The run/walk benefits an organization  that, in 2011, is celebrating its 25th anniversary dedicated  to the greening and beautifying of Chicago's expressways, gateways and neighborhoods.

The 5K competitive-timed run, 5K fun run and 3K fun walk will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Roosevelt  and Columbus.  There will also be a post-run/walk party.

The "Tree-K" Run/Walk is one of four Chicago Gateway Green public events being held in April that celebrate its first quarter century. The others are: "Daley Plaza Grows a Tree Grove," an exhibit from April 1-22 at Daley Plaza... "The Tree-rifics!", a "flash-dance" involving college students on city streets on Friday, April 15... and  "Little Sprouts Tree Planting," a planting on Arbor Day at select public schools in collaboration with the City of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools on Friday, April 29.

►Registration for the "Tree-K" 5K competitive-timed run is $35 in advance; $40 on-site.  Registration for the 5K fun run and 3K fun walk is $30 in advance; $35 on-site.
