Precision culinary knife specialist Wüsthof Trident of America recently completed their shoot for O2 Media’s hit morning TV show “The Balancing Act.”  The segment, which features Executive Chef Michael Garaghty, will air as part of the show’s “myCuisine” series on April 15th at 7:00 am (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television.  Garaghty discusses different blade styles and demonstrates the correct way to use and maintain a quality Wüsthof knife.

Wüsthof is one of the oldest and most respected knife manufacturers in the world with almost two centuries of knife-making experience.  Since the first factory opened in 1814, seven generations of Wüsthofs have kept the Solingen, Germany based company a family business.  Wüsthof offers a wide variety of products, but according to Garaghty, most culinary knives will fit into one of four styles:  the pairing knife, the serrated knife, the chef’s knife, and the Santoku-Asian style.  Each has their own specific task in the food preparation process.

“Good knives used the right way will change your cooking methods, and you don’t have to be an Executive Chef to use them properly,” Garaghty says.  “They may cost a little more up front, but quality knives will last you a lifetime!  The Balancing Act is a great opportunity to encourage viewers to use the best tools in the kitchen to make cooking a joy instead of a chore.”

Garaghty goes on to demonstrate the proper method of sharpening a culinary knife, and shows viewers how to store knives and maintain the blade’s edge.  Unlike other cheaper brands, Wüsthof knives are guaranteed for a lifetime of use, a fact that makes them well worth the investment.   Wüsthof products are sold at select specialty and department stores, and used in fine dining establishments and culinary institutions around the world.

“Having Executive Chef Michael Garaghty from Wüsthof Trident of America on the show has brought yet another great solution to women, one that will have a real impact, and help them balance their lives,” says Doug Campbell, Founder and Executive VP of Programming for The Balancing Act.  “This is the essence of solutions-based programming, and we are proud that we could bring this information to our viewers.”
