March 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Local firms are rallying to help a Sheffield businessman raise money for the national charity Deafness Research UK, as he aims to complete his first ever marathon in London on 17 April.

Printworks (Sheffield) Ltd, a traditional high quality printing business based at Carlisle Business Centre in Sheffield, is donating free print to the tune of several hundred pounds to help BeyondPR’s managing director Jon Gardner get the message out about his fundraising efforts. Printworks are supplying business cards and other promotional print items, all to help raise funds for Deafness Research UK who rely solely on the generosity of the public and businesses to continue their excellent work.

Printworks Managing Director Paul Robinson said: “Jon has sent us a fair bit of work over the years and the cause is undoubtedly a good one. We don’t normally get involved in sponsorship because we get so many requests, but we are happy to assist and wish Jon the best of luck with his marathon attempt in London.”

Jon said: “It’s early days yet on the fundraising and with the training, but with the support of friends, family and local businesses like Printworks, all the effort feels so worthwhile. I’ve also benefited from free design work from our graphic designer and one or two clients have already made substantial donations. All I have to do now is complete the mere task of finishing the 26 and a bit miles!” You can visit Jon’s fundraising page at www.BeyondPR.co.uk

Deaf babies can hear again, men and women have their lives and relationships back as a result of the work done by Deafness Research UK. However for this work to go on, the charity urgently needs funds and their only funding is from public and commercial donations and legacies. Deafness Research UK is the country’s only charity dedicated to finding new cures, treatments and technologies for deaf, hard of hearing and other hearing impaired people. The charity supports high quality medical research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all forms of hearing impairment including tinnitus.

Deafness Research UK is entirely dependent on voluntary donations, gifts and personal legacies.

The Deafness Research UK Advisory Service provides free information and advice based on the latest scientific evidence and informed by leading experts.  The Advisory Service can be contacted on Freephone 0808 808 2222.
