Mantis Microscope Provides A Comfortable Solution for Hair Transplant Surgery
Vision Engineering's Mantis microscope is being used around the world for hair transplant surgery. The popular magnification solution amongst surgeons and technicians is down to the ergonomic eyepieceless viewing head, providing optimised comfort.
Providing substantial ergonomic advantages means both surgeons and technicians who spend long periods of time using magnification, can inspect and manipulate in comfort.
The technique consists of removing a number of follicular units from the donor area of the patient, usually the back of the head, by the surgeon. The follicular units are then dissected one by one, under the microscope and then singularly placed onto the target area, usually the front of the head, follicle by follicle.
One of the most critical parts of the operation is the dissection of follicles: this must be done with great care and precision, not damaging the follicles during the process, which is usually completed under controlled temperatures. The most critical problem is the length of a complete session which can be as long as 6-8 hours, and during this time the nurses have to work under the microscope with extreme care and accuracy.
For this operation the Mantis Elite with 6x super long working distance (SLWD) lens is the perfect solution for the dissection, with the clarity of the image and the real colour rendition. Equally, the ergonomic position doesn’t fatigue the bodies of the operators, and the long working distance allows the operators to work with all the tools without any limitation. Importantly, the LED illumination doesn’t increase the sample temperature.
