Financial Fitness Day offers free money management help for Seattle area residents

Financial Fitness Day is Saturday, April 2nd from 10am - 3pm at the Rainier Community Center. Come take advantage of tax preparation assistance, credit and housing counseling, document shredding, and more. All services are free, so don’t miss out.

March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Seattle, WA—The Seattle‐King County Asset Building Coalition, in conjunction with numerous community businesses and organizations, is proud to present Financial Fitness Day On Saturday, April 2, 2011 At the Rainier Community Center. The public is encouraged to attend this one-of-a kind event that gives access to many financial resources in one location.

"We Appreciate all of these good organizations and people coming together to help people better manage their finances," said Mayor Mike McGinn. "We can make our communities stronger by supporting each other."

People who attend Financial Fitness Day Will receive help filing their tax returns, printing free credit reports, opening bank accounts, creating household budgets, developing plans to get out of debt, understanding their options to foreclosure, applying for public benefits (food, utilities, child care, health insurance), and shredding confidential documents. All of these services will be completely free.

“Financial Fitness Day Will be an amazing opportunity for our community members to access a tremendous array of free services to help people understand, manage, and improve their financial situations” said Diana Stone, Director Of Initiatives For Seattle King-County Asset Building Coalition. “We’re offering people hands-on opportunities with experts to save money and make plans to help them reach realistic financial goals. For the first time, more than two‐dozen of our partners will provide financial advice at the same time in the same place. ”

In addition financial services and resources, translation services will be available in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Cambodian, Oromiffa, Tigrinya, and Amharic at no cost. There will also be translation available in American Sign Language for the hearing impaired. Childcare For attendees with small children will also be provided.

Financial Fitness Day Will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 At the Rainier Community Center Located at 4600 38th Avenue S. Seattle.
