Rhode Island’s first annual Providence 420 FEST April 20th at FH13

March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The first annual Providence 420 FEST 2011 Showcase will be held at FIREHOUSE 13 on Wednesday, April 20th. Featuring some of Rhode Island’s masters of the mic, Providence 420 FEST offers an evening of high-energy entertainment while bringing social awareness to the issues of medicinal marijuana and drug policy, highlighting two local advocacy organizations. Sponsored by Its All Good Smoke Shop, proceeds raised at Providence 420 FEST will benefit Rhode Island Patient Advocacy Coalition Foundation (RIPAC) which organizes and empowers medical marijuana patients by providing community-building for patients and caregivers, and education for physicians, nurses, police, and lawyers. The NET profits raised at Providence 420 FEST will go towards producing educational materials to help educate the public about the benefits of medical marijuana use and the need for RI compassion centers.

Providence 420 FEST has been organized in partnership with the local Brown University chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP). SSDP is an international grassroots network of students who are concerned about the impact drug abuse has on our communities, but who also know that the War on Drugs is failing our generation and our society. SSDP mobilizes and empowers young people to participate in the political process, pushing for sensible policies to achieve a safer and more just future, while fighting back against counterproductive Drug War policies, particularly those that directly harm students and youth.

Providence 420 FEST 2011 will feature a special guest from the Midwest, hip hop artist and producer, Vandalyzm, a dynamic performer who has racked up writing and producing credits from some of the most notable names in hip-hop such as T-Pain’s Nappy Boy, Skyzoo, Tanya Morgan, Big Pooh, 9th Wonder, Flying Lotus and many more. The night will also feature some of Rhode Island’s masters of the mic including home town favorites rap solo artists Jahpan performing his hit “Providence” & Chachi debuting some new tracks from , as well as new-comers Brick Star Ent’s own Antwididda & introducing Writes.

Vandalyzm - Hailing from St. Louis, Vandalyzm has been making music since the young age of 7 and began producing at 12. He has shared the stage and has racked up writing and producing credits from some of the most notable names in hip-hop and was voted  “Best St. Louis Hip Hop Artist” by the Riverfront Times, Vandalyzm will be making his Rhode Island Debut at the Providence 420 Fest. http://www.providence420fest.com

Jahpan - Jahpan is a founding member of the Rhode Island-based hip-hop collective Fedd Hill, and after countless performances at the Round Midnight series at the Black Reparatory Theatre, The Source dubbed Fedd Hill “Providence's rude boys; the true emcees of hip-hop”. Chachi - For the past three years Chachi has been a household name around the Providence music scene and was voted one of the top 51 emcees state to state by VIBE magazine in the December 2007 issue. He was the  first winner on BET's hit television competition 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesdays in 2008. Chachi returned later that year to 106 & Park to compete in the all star competition and was crowned the Wild Out Wednesday 2008 Champion for hip hop category. Chachi is slowly but surely starting to attract the attention of some industry big shots and has already won the hearts of hip hop fans throughout the northeast region. CR The Beast - With years of experience under his belt and an impeccable track record, “The Beast” has become a nightlife legend. Known to rock New England’s most exclusive parties, CR is a well respected DJ and has been affiliated with national brands including Ecko Unlimited, Scion Brand, and the New England Patriots. Antwiddida - At only 17, Antwiddida is emerging as a significant presence in the New England hip-hop scene. He’s teamed up with older cousin and CEO of Rhode Islands Brickstars Entertainment to put out a twelve-track mixtape entitled Heaven Sent, which includes two tracks with his older brother, Mook da Last Don. Mista Mista - Mista Mista is not your conventional Hip Hop artist. He has established himself as an artist who is able to find a happy medium between commercial and underground. After performing locally for some time Mista Mista’s hard work and dedication lead him to open for acts such as Redman & Method Man, and John Legend.
