Yeomans Support Walk of Remembrance

Loyal Yeomans Outdoor Leisure customers take on the Pennine Way challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and Hounds for Heroes.

March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Glenn and Sarah Lowe will be starting the Walk of Remembrance with their dog Blaze in Edale on the 30th May 2011 with up to 150 other members of their Unity and Strength group taking part a various points of the route. The charity walk will take 21 days covering 270 miles of the Pennine Way. In reality Glenn and Sarah will have covered nearer to 400 miles by the time they get to Kirk Yethholm on 21st June 2011 as they plan to take part in a series of scheduled events enroute.
Glenn, who served in the Royal Marines, had planned to run the Pennine Way for the charity Help for Heroes but since he was diagnosed with Asbestosis he has been advised to cancel the run. Still displaying his commando spirit Glenn is soldiering on and rather than cancel the event altogether will walk the route rather than run, despite also suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Sarah commented, “Our chosen charities are very close to our hearts we hope to raise £100,000 to be divided between the three charities. Glenn is very motivated he has always said ‘Nothing is impossible unless you want it to be’ so even though he has been told activities like this are an impossibility for him now he will not give in.”
Glenn and Sarah will also need to walk and climb carrying 20 kilos of kit on their backs and will be rough camping when and where possible.
Sue Haynes store manager at the Yeomans Crewe outlet commented, “These are great people with incredible heart, we were only too happy to support Glenn and the Unity and Strength group. All the Yeomans team are rooting for them.”
Glenn added, “Everyone has been incredibly supportive. We are really grateful to Yeomans for their support, they even arranged for rucksacks for us that where kindly donated by their supplier Regatta and sorted out a great discount at Yeomans for everyone involved. Their contacts and support have been invaluable in spreading the word.”
He continued, “The Robinson’s brewery in Stockport has also launched a special limited edition bottled beer called Unity and Strength”.
The 4.3% proof ale is available from Glenn in cases of eight 500ml bottles for only £17.50 per case or £3 per bottle with every penny of profit going to the charities.
