March 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The latest buzz in Hollywood  is the production of a motion picture that lampoons celebrities and their humanitarian causes.

In response to such creative concepts, the United Nations Arts Initiative is asking the Motion Picture Association of America to discourage support of such projects and instead enhance the promotion of educational film projects that include celebrities and their humanitarian causes.

It is just incomprehensible that any producer would take, let's say a Steven Speilberg and write a comedy skit that mocks his human rights documentaries or humanitarian causes. -- Stephen Michael Apatow, Founder of Humanitarian Resource Institute and the United Nations Arts Initiative.

Though we support the important work of the comedic arts, we appeal for respect and balance in artistic expression.

In the light of the saying "place yourself in their shoes," Jafar Panahi, the imprisoned Iranian filmmaker comes to mind.  I am sure that if a producer had the opportunity to switch places and spend some time in an Iranian prison, they might find it difficult to script a comedy that wouldn't be viewed with distain.
