Washington, D.C. - D.C.’s premier promotion and entertainment company, Beny Blaq Entertainment, presents the grand finale of the monthly poetry slam at Liv on March 30th. Every third Wednesday, poetry lovers found Graffiti DC right in the center of U Street’s urban nightlife. The event brought slam competition to a city where spoken word is still a novelty.

After eight months of anticipation and close calls, eight audience-picked finalists will compete for the title of "2010-2011 Graffiti DC Slam Champion." Competitors, 13 of Nazareth, Joseph LMS Green, ItsReaLight, Gray the Poet, Epidemic, Kane Mayfield, Megan Rickman, and Jinahie each have a chance to take away the $2000 grand prize!

The season finale features a special performance by Graffiti DC team members, Ya Ya, Rasheed Copeland and Drew Law, great samples and giveaways by event sponsor Fuze, and other amazing surprises.

Poets who have a healthy appetite for competition have used “Graffiti DC as a platform for the next generation of entertainers and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents through competition,” said Nyasha Chikowore, GDC Coordinator. “If anything, the series encouraged young people in the DMV to strive for greatness.”
