Experts Exchange Celebrates 3 Million Solutions with iPad 2 Giveaway

March 25, 2011 - PRLog -- It began simply enough—a search for an easier way to share information. A university professor was seeking an alternative to forums for finding useful solutions, mostly to technology problems. He shared his idea with a friend and in 1996, Experts Exchange was born.

Nearly 15 years later, the Q&A website is approaching its 3 millionth technology solution. That’s three million questions that have been asked by real users and answered by real experts from all over the world.

While some websites may boast more questions, Experts Exchange focuses on generating and maintaining a knowledgebase of quality solutions. Using a patented Q&A system, askers are prompted to select the expert answer that worked best for them. The result is a searchable database of “asker-certified” solutions.

In addition to askers choosing their solution, the site is monitored for quality by a team of cleanup volunteers who ensure the knowledgebase doesn’t become cluttered with repetitive or unanswered questions.

Asking questions is limited to members (paying subscribers or experts who have answered enough questions to receive free access). However, anyone may sign up for free as an expert to answer questions.
