Tooq Inc Announces the "My Website Sucks" Contest

Coinciding with the launch of Edmonton based,Tooq Inc's website, is the announcement of the "My Website Sucks" Contest whereby one small business, artist , musician or person will receive a free website with one year of hosting.

March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Tooq Inc, the makers of small business invoicing software www.myTooq.com, have officially launched the small business consulting website www.tooq.ca. With a focus on small business needs, Tooq offers a wide range of small business services including consulting, website development, custom software and hardware.

With the launch of the new website, comes the announcement of the "My Website Sucks" Contest, allowing the chance for small businesses, artists, bands or individuals to plead their case to receive a new website for no charge.

Submissions can be made by the person seeking the prize, or on behalf of someone who could use the update, though the contest site does request that those submitting on behalf of someone else, inform the potential winner of the entry with the site stating "We don't want to send that awkward email."

The contest page is written in a humorous style with hints at the possibilities of Al Gore shaking the winner's hand (a reference to the internet meme and urban legend that the former Vice President had claimed to have invented internet) and being asked to appear on Oprah. Even the rules of the contest are humorous in nature, stating "Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not redeemable for cash, cars, unicorns, luncheon meat or anything else. You get a site. That's it."

When asked about the contest and if the prize was real, CEO and Founder of Tooq, Brian MacKay stated, "It's definitely a real prize. We wanted to present something kind of fun that showed a sense of humor, but in the end would really help somebody out. We're a small business too and it's sometimes those early things that are tough to get a handle on. If we can take care of a simple site for one business owner or somebody that needs it, help give them a leg up or a head start, that's a good thing for us to do."

MacKay also stated, when asked about the motivation behind the contest, "We certainly wouldn't mind if went viral and had a large response. Obviously, the more eyeballs that see the site, the better for our business, but early on we decided that we would dedicate a certain amount of our time to the 'Good Karma Account'. If this helps our business grow and helps somebody else at the same time, I think that's all good."

Entering the contest requires contestants to follow the company on Twitter or like their Facebook page and fill out a simple form with contact information and space to persuade the judges on why they need a new website.

The contest information can be found from the link on the homepage at http://tooq.ca, or directly at http://tooq.ca/no-more-sucky-website/
