Port Klang, Malaysia Deemed Most Efficient in the World

In its 15th annual awards, Dream World Cruise Destination awarded Port Klang in Malaysia as “Most Efficient Port Services.”

March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The award is based on the port’s efficient combination of pilotage, port agency services, custom clearance and good working relations with the operations departments of cruise liners.

“We are truly excited to have received this award, as it signifies Malaysia’s outstanding presence in the cruise industry,” said Mr. Salahuddin Mohd Arifin, Tourism Malaysia Director Eastern USA. He added, “Our country is one of Southeast Asia’s leading cruise destinations with good infrastructure, and many attractions and activities for tourists.”

The winners of Dream World Cruise Destinations annual awards are based on surveys that are collected from cruise line executives from around the world. The award was received during the Seatrade Cruise Shipping conference held in Miami, Florida, from March 14 – 17, 2011. The magazine, which launched in 1993, focuses on the business of cruise, ports and destinations.

Port Klang is Malaysia’s biggest port and serves Kuala Lumpur—the country’s capital. The attractions of the dazzling city lure passengers on arriving cruise ships. This bustling metropolis is adorned with charming colonial buildings and modern skyscrapers, amidst lush greenery, and offers a diverse array of attractions and activities.

It is a port of call for many major cruise lines including Cunard Lines, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises, and Star Cruises among others. Port Klang is often included in World Cruise itineraries, including that of the Crystal Serenity, Queen Mary 2 and the newly launched Queen Elizabeth.
