March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Philadelphia, PA (March, 20th 2011) – The Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market is slated to launch the first week in April and will be open to the public. Warehouse Technology, a Philadelphia based overhead door, loading dock equipment and warehouse storage system provider is solely responsible for providing and installing the market’s loading dock and door equipment.

With 686,000 square feet of facility and 20 acres of vending space, the new produce market boasts 224 fully enclosed and refrigerated 50 foot wide loading dock areas, 40 foot ceiling heights and a quarter mile long skylight that spans the entire central walking concourse of the building. Additionally, Warehouse Technology provided the equipment for the on-site recycling facility.  A total of 227 loading docks furnish the entire site. The new project will offer over 1500 new jobs to Philadelphians and 32 new vending spaces. Currently, the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority owns the 48-acre site and will act as the market’s landlord for the next 40 years.

Warehouse Technology had the opportunity to provide a slew of dock equipment. Delivery on this equipment began as early as October 2009. Nearly 230 Blue Giant dock levelers and Fairborn soft-sided dock shelters were used to furnish the new market. Additionally, 250 Overhead sectional doors, 117 rolling steal security grilles, and 136 Albany Hi-Speed were installed at the site. Warehouse also employed the use of 46 Berner Air curtains as well as 44 TMI strip curtains.

Warehouse Technology’s President, Mike Struempfler and Jeff Cline orchestrated the entire project. They were supported by the following manufacturers, Overhead Doors (Tim Mathews), a division of Warehouse Technology, Blue Giant (John Simon and Jeff Mille), Albany International (Rich Noechl and Mike Weiland), and Fairborn USA (Mark Dillon).
