Beach Pit BBQ - Baseball, BBQ, and Japan Relief Fundraiser

March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Costa Mesa, CA – March 21, 2011 – On Monday, March 28th, 2011 50% of sales from all 6 Beach Pit BBQ locations will be donated to locally operated charities to aid the earthquake and tsunami victims in Sendai, Japan. Saddleback Church’s PEACE Relief Mission Program has also agreed to match Beach Pit BBQ’s contribution to the cause up to $30,000.

Last year when tragedy struck Haiti, Delaney, Riley and Paige DeCinces set up a bake sale to benefit Haiti relief.  Inspired by his daughters’ initiative, Tim DeCinces, owner of Beach Pit BBQ set up an unprecedented “bake sale” of his own.  Beach Pit BBQ donated 100% of their sales from their 3 locations, and raised $19,000, which was also matched by Saddleback Church. $38,000 went directly to Haiti relief by a mission group that went from the Church to help build a water filtration system for a village that was devastated by the hurricane.

This tragedy hits close to home for former Professional Baseball player and Beach Pit BBQ owner Tim DeCinces. Having lived in Japan during his youth when is his dad, and also former baseball pro, played for the Yakult Swallows.  Currently, Tim is working with the Japanese professional baseball team, Rakuten Eagles who play in Sendai, Japan to give the money directly to their community to help aid their relief efforts.
