March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- This is a new archive search of the skin is examined, the incidence of melanoma in young women of different income levels. Not only was the highest rate of melanoma among the highest revenue, grew the fastest of new diagnoses in this group also.

A team of California researchers have found non-Hispanic white women between 15 and 39, a demographic group that has doubled the incidence of melanoma in the past 30 years. (In addition, whites are responsible for more than 90% of cases of melanoma in the U.S.) with data from the California Cancer Registry, identified 3,800 women who had a total of 3,842 cases of malignant melanoma in the two periods : 1988 to 1992 and from 1998 to 2002.

Among the findings:

Adolescents and women in the top 20% of socioeconomic status (SES), six times more likely to be diagnosed with melanoma than their counterparts in the bottom 20%.

In adolescents and women who lived in neighborhoods with more UV radiation, the incidence of melanoma diagnosed 73% higher for those in the top 20% of SES compared to those in the bottom 20%.

In adolescents and women who lived in neighborhoods with moderate quantities of UV exposure, the incidence of diagnosis of melanoma almost three times higher for those in the top 20% of SES compared to those in Band less than 20%.

For teenagers and women in 40% of SES, melanoma rates have remained essentially unchanged during the study. For all other groups, the diagnosis rate has increased between 1998-1992 and 1998-2002.

And 'certainly possible that more cases of skin cancer found in women with higher income because they have better access to doctors and they attack the most dangerous tumors. But investigators do not believe that what is happening. If it was just a matter of screening, doctors in general would be to find more tumors at an early stage have been scarce. But in reality, doctors are finding more melanomas, which are thick, plus more than skinny.
