Self-image Plays Role in Healing, Author Says

Newly released book says our subconscious thinking patterns play a large role in disease. Gene research shows regulatory processes in DNA more critical than fixed genetics.

March 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Gainesville, Virginia. Alice Elliott Brown, author of Master of My Universe: How to get what you want and live your dream, says genetics play a much smaller role in our health and happiness than we realize.  Brown responded to recent studies published in the journal Nature, which found that regulatory processes of DNA play a larger role in defining us than the genes themselves. In an article first published on Technorati.com, titled It's not in our genes, Brown illustrates that our genetic structure is similar to a stocked pantry of items.  The items  used in the recipe to construct our health are  a complex interaction.  This complexity  incorporates our emotional state and our thoughts.

"We're not fully aware of how important our thoughts and emotional states are in our body chemistry.  Emotional response is chemical," says Brown.  "It triggers changes in our body's chemical balance."  Throughout her book, Brown references more than thirty contemporary science writers.  The book concludes with a dramatic illustration of the impact of subconscious thought patterns.  Brown contends that we can improve our health, even changing our genetic responses, through accessing these subconscious emotional patterns. "Drugs marketed today seldom significantly outperform placebos," she identifies.  "Placebos work because our minds make them work.  This book describes the mechanism to use that ability of the mind."

Master of My Universe is available in print, Kindle, and e-book formats on the publisher's website at http://RiverLandingPress.com/how-to-be-happy.html or from most online retailers anywhere.
